Cheapest Airport Transfers- Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Gold Coast


Sydney Airport to the City
Catch the train to Sydney Airport or the city but to save money you can either get off or board the train at either Mascot (Closer to Domestic Terminal, approx 2km or 20 mins walk) or Wooli Creek Train Stations (Closer to the International terminal, approx 30 mins walk).
It can save you up to $5 if you get off at these stations.
There is also a local bus from Sydney Airport that goes all the way to Bondi Junction from the Domestic Terminal.

Inter Terminal Airport transfers

You have to pay to get from the domestic to international airport by bus or train unless you have a transfer included in the price of the ticket.

It is about 4km or 50 mins walk between the terminals on busy road so this isn’t ideal.

Melbourne Airport to/from the city

Most people going to the airport either drive or take public transport.
The cheapest way Currently to get to Melbourne Airport from the City involves a longer travel time and involves taking a bus and train but could save you up to $10 each way!

Bus 478 or 479 is a local bus service that leaves from outside international arrivals.
It goes to/from Essendon Station which connects to the Craigieburn Train line to Melbourne City.
It takes around 1 hr in all compared to 20-30 mins on the Skybus.
NOTE:
Bus 478 only runs 2 services from the airport at 7.10am & 8.10 am in the early morning and 15.05 & 16.45 afternoon on weekdays (Better on the weekend).
Bus 479 has more services but again doesn’t operate after 5pm.
 
To catch this bus:
Ask at international arrivals visitors information where the bus stop is for the 478 (It is outside international arrivals, near the pick up point).

Make sure you stand out as the driver often drives past unless you really stick out for the driver.

Ask for a 2 hr metlink card ($5.80 for zone 1&2) or if you going to travel round Melbourne, the daily card ($10.60).
Ask to be dropped off at Essendon Station.
There you can pick up the train to the city on the Craigieburn Line.

Simpler public transport option from Melbourne Airport to the City.
Skybus is runs 24 hrs
Costs $16 one way or $26 return. It takes 20 mins (subject to road conditions).
Going to St Kilda or Beyond?
They offer free transfers to accomodation in St Kilda.
Fares start from $18 for adults or $17 for backpackers or children
 
Sunbus
Sunbus provides a premium meet and greet airport transfer service from Melbourne Hotels and return.
It services all incoming and outgoing flights between 4am and midnight.

Brisbane Airport

 Queensland Rail’s AirTrain

The Cheapest, Easiest & Best Way to get to Brisbane Airport is by Public Transport on Queensland Rail’s AirTrain

Check this out but remember you can only book these tickets from Brisbane Airport to the City or on to other Queensland destinations.

NOTE: You cannot get the discount if you are going from Brisbane City to the Airport.

Gold Coast Airport

The Cheapest way to get from Gold Coast Airport to the Gold Coast Resorts including Surfers Paradise is by public transport on the buses.

There are a number of options including Buses:

700 or 702 that leaves from outside the Domestic Terminal.
